Join OrthoCarolina Research Institute on Tuesday, September 10 for an honest conversation about the opioid epidemic and how it's impacting today's high school and college students. We hope you will join us for this FREE event at the Knight Theater starting at 6:30 p.m. We encourage parents to accompany high school students and continue the conversation at home.
Everyday, an estimated 130+ Americans die from an opioid-related drug overdose and nearly 80% of heroin users reported misusing prescription opioids prior to heroin. Here at OrthoCarolina, we believe it's our responsibility to do our part in finding alternatives to opioids for our patients and to educate the public of the dangers related to opioid use and abuse. That's why we started the Carolinas Opioid Reducation Effort (CORE Project) and why we are hosting this free community event.
Our passionate panelists will have a candid discussion about how opioids have impacted their lives as physicians, professional athletes, and through the loss of a child.
Sarah-Blake Morgan (Moderator)
Award-winning TV journalist, Associated Press
Sarah-Blake Morgan has reported across the United States and around the world for local and international news organizations, shooting, writing and editing her stories. Sarah Blake's reporting has taken her to Cuba in the days following Fidel Castro's death, through the streets of Charlotte, North Carolina as protesters marched through tear gas and into the homes of grieving mothers who have lost their children to tragic overdoses. Sarah Blake has found while each narrative may be different, the human connection is almost always the same. Everyone has their own story to tell, they just need the right moment to do so.
