Many patients do not have the financial resources to obtain a prosthesis following the loss of a limb. Others have the capability of performing at a higher level with a better prosthesis but cannot afford a more advanced model.
We are committed to restoring patients to their highest potential by providing prosthetic limbs to those in need.
Losing a limb is an emotional and physical blow.
For many patients, a split-second turn-of-events flips their life upside down.
The medical bills mount and coverage for prosthetics leave patients without an option that fits their everyday needs. We see it all too often at the OrthoCarolina Reconstructive Center for Lost Limbs (RCLL).
That's where Arms For All comes in!
Because of the generosity of people like you, we are able to fill the monetary gap to provide prosthetic devices and tools that give our patients the gift of mobility.
When the application process opens for an Arms for All grant, the grants will be reviewed by the board of trustees, and will be awarded based on need.
The initial goal of the Arms for All foundation is to provide prosthetic devices for established OrthoCarolina patients in need.
Our hope and dream for this organization is that, in time, we will one day be able to broaden our reach to patients outside of our region.
ABOUT OCRI:
From pioneering inventions to innovating ways to help patients heal, OrthoCarolina Research Institute (OCRI) performs more orthopedic research than most major universities. Then we share our results across the world, leading to better medical care, better outcomes, and better cost efficiency.
IF THERE'S A BETTER WAY, WE WILL FIND IT. AND WHEN WE FIND IT, WE SHARE IT.
The orthopedic treatments and procedures of today will not be the same as those tomorrow. Our priority is and will always be to meet the growing need for better orthopedic care through research, innovation, and education.
The OrthoCarolina Reconstructive Center for Lost Limbs (RCLL) has become a world renown center specializing in the care of upper extremity amputees. Drs. Glenn Gaston and Bryan Loeffler lead a multidisciplinary team of prosthetists, therapists, and a psychologist to address the physical and emotional needs of amputees.
They pioneered the Starfish Procedure which allowed the first person in the world to have individual finger control of a prosthesis. As the clinic grew in numbers, it became apparent that some patients lacked the necessary resources to optimize their functional outcomes. This clinic strives to consider the whole patient beyond their immediate orthopedic concerns.
Arms for All is a 501(c)3 organization. Our Tax ID # is #: 01-0648145 and listed under OrthoCarolina Research Institute (OCRI) as a designated separate charitable program. Our efforts would not be possible without the dedicated staff at OCRI.
